VdlP day 12

 Alcuescar to Cáceres

Today was a good day…no rain! ☔️  Cáceres is a very historical city.  The Game of Thrones was filmed in part of Old Town.  People are getting ready for Palm Sunday.  Semana Santos (Easter Week) is a very busy time in Spain.  People celebrate all week…day and night, so we had to make reservations months in advance, or we wouldn’t have places to stay.  We are staying 2 days in Cáceres, so we are relaxing and not thinking about walking 🤣🤣🤷🏻‍♀️  There is an European store called Decathlon…every Pilgrim seems to shop there for hiking stuff bc it’s cheap and they sell good quality clothes.  We went today and saw lots of good cheap stuff !  Americans spend a fortune on athletic wear 😩 compared to Europeans! 💸  We didn’t need anything but I bought a T-shirt anyways 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️  I couldn’t pass up a T-shirt made of merino wool for 24€ 🤷🏻‍♀️  Now, I’ll have to carry it 😩 in my backpack!

There aren’t many pilgrims on this route and we found out (this morning) 2 of our German friends are going home bc of foot problems 🥲  Two days ago another pilgrim (French) went home bc of illness and a Belgium friend will probably head home bc of serious blisters. We will miss them on the trail! 🥲  Keeping our fingers crossed our feet 👣 continue to hold up! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
