VdlP Day 19
Calzada de Bejar to Fuenterobble de Salvatierra
Today was a very cold day, temps in the low 30’s but no snow! It was drizzly, cold and windy. But most of our trail was dry! There was a spot with high flowing water and we had to walk on high rocks to cross…our friend Ivan fell in and cut his knee and got soaked. It was so cold and he had to walk 10 more miles to the Albergue 😩 Dave almost fell in too, as he tried to help me cross 😩 Overall, it was a nice walk through beautiful countryside. We walked through a couple of towns, but no cafes were open which was ok bc we ate breakfast at our hostel. We arrived at our Albergue tired, soaked and hungry. The albergue is a Monasterio run by the church. It runs on donations 😳😱 💸 It is for Pilgrims only and dinner and breakfast are provided! Everyone is so kind here…we were given a private tree house…really, a tree is inside our little room 😳🤣 and there is NO HEAT, but we have 3 blankets each! Does this make us real pilgrims now 🤣🤣🤷🏻♀️ (see pics) We had a delicious community dinner with all the other pilgrims staying here. Our friends are from Spain, UK, Netherlands, Canada, Australia, Germany , Italy and ???
