VdlP Sanabria Way Day 32 & 33
Puebla de Sanabria to Lubián
Woke up to a Severe Weather Warning, but we decided to walk anyway 🤷🏻♀️ The weather was cold and cloudy…raining on and off. We ran into our Romanian friend Adrian at a cafe, and we all walked together. Adrian is constantly looking at the VdlP App looking for a shorter route, so he convinced us to go along with him 😳 It was an adventure! We climbed boulders, walked through mud, jumped from rock to rock to cross rivers, jumped over train tracks, slid down a mountain holding on to a wire fence… 🤣🤣👣 19 miles later arrived at our hotel beat! And we missed the lunch hour, so we had to wait until 8pm. 😩 But it was a good day…just challenging. Met up with our Camino friends for drinks and dinner…Bill from N. Carolina, Adrian from Romania, Dominic from Switzerland (see pics) Stayed up way too late talking about our Camino experiences bc everyone at the table has done 5+ Caminos 😳 except us.
Lubian to La Gudiña
Started our day around 7:30 bc the cafe opened at 7am for 30 minutes, just to give pilgrims a cup of coffee and some toast before their walk 🥰 It was another challenging day 🤷🏻♀️ The rain makes everything worse…cold, muddy, wet clothes! 😩☔️ It is supposed to rain for the next few days. We walked up and down 3 mountains and it was just beautiful! (See pics) We’ve learned to appreciate the beauty of this Camino and the weather isn’t going to spoil it for us. We are now in Galicia and see that Galicians really take care of pilgrims…the trails are nicely marked, stones are places in muddy areas, big slabs are placed over streams. They do this for the least traveled Camino! 🥰 We arrived at our hotel tired, hungry, wet and freezing, but we made it in time for lunch! Our clothes were wet, but we couldn’t wash them in the sink bc they wouldn’t dry 😩 So, we have them hung all over the room hoping they will dry by tomorrow morning. Our shoes are soaked…they will not dry by tomorrow morning, so we’ll have to wear them wet 👣☔️ This hotel doesn’t even have a hair dryer in the room bc we would’ve used it on our shoes. Wet shoes are no bueno bc they will start to stink quickly 😱 🦨 We have the heat in our room up high, but we are still cold 🥶 I’m just not used to the cold 🤷🏻♀️ My only fleece pullover is wet, but I’m still wearing it bc it’s the only thing I have to keep warm 🤷🏻♀️ Tomorrow’s hotel is supposed to have laundry service to wash and dry our clothes bc we’ll have more wet clothes tomorrow 🤷🏻♀️☔️🙏🏼
What experiences you two continue to have! Hope you get to warm up and dry out your clothes.
