VdlP Sanabria Way Day 36
Xunqieira de Ambia To Ourense
The morning was cold, but the sun quickly appeared and warmed (a little) things up. Our hotel didn’t have heat, so the owner just put 5 blankets on the bed 🙄 It was 40* last night! 🥶 We started off wearing sandals bc our shoes were still wet from yesterday’s mud, but put on our wet shoes when we came across another mud patch 😩 Not bad bc that was the only mud patch today and the rest of the day the Camino was on the road 🎉🚶🏻♀️The Camino has changed bc we are so close to Santiago, so there are many towns with cafes. Today, we went through 11 towns and stopped twice 😳😮☕️ It was a fun walk looking at fruit trees and admiring people’s’ houses. We were stopped by the Civil Guard for Pilgrims (Police unit that caters to pilgrims) He registered our passports as pilgrims on the Camino, so if we ever need anything we can call them and they will help us. He also gave us a bright safety vest to wear on busy roads 🤣 Dave wore his and I tied mine to my backpack. (See pic) This city (Ourense) is huge! Lots to see and do here…we will have a rest day tomorrow!
